This edition will be the 55th in the history of the competition and the 17th since the UEFA Cup was renamed the Europa League. There are currently 78 teams competing in the competition, making it one of the most prestigious club competitions on the continent.
Last year, the UEFA Europa League was won by Italy’s Atalanta, who confidently beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final at the Dublin Arena in Ireland. Fans from all over the world packed the stadium to witness the spectacular and tense encounter.
The hero of the match was Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finding himself one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper. He doubled the lead in the 26th minute and completed his hat-trick in the 75th, which caused a storm of emotions in the stands. The fans chanted his name, and Lookman himself, unable to hold back tears of joy, ran around the field, proudly shouting the name of his club.
