Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano

Description

The Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano soccer stadium is located in the city of Madrid, Spain. The construction process of the stadium began in 1990 and was completed in 1993. A year later, on September 6, 1994, the stadium was officially inaugurated. The 2017/18 season was the first season that Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano became the home arena of Atlético Madrid soccer club.

The stadium's original capacity was 20,000, but thanks to renovations, it can now accommodate up to 67,703 spectators. Today, the stadium covers an area of 88150 square meters. There are 1000 parking spaces provided inside the stadium building and another 3000 parking spaces outside the stadium. On match days, the parking spaces are only available to fans who have the appropriate parking cards.

There are fan zones in the lower tier of the South and North stands. The North Stand also has seating for families, and the Smoke-Free Stand, which seats 19,000 spectators, prohibits the use of smoke bombs during soccer matches and other events.

The West Sector lobby features a "Hall of Fame" with photos of players who have played 100 or more matches for Atletico. On the southwestern part of the stadium is placed the largest flag in Spain in honor of the home soccer club. The area of this flag is 338 square meters. Around the entire stadium there are LED monitors and LED lighting is used.

The Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano stadium is an environmentally oriented project. It uses LED lighting to reduce energy consumption, solar panels for water heating and a rainwater recycling system to irrigate the pitch and clean the stands.

The stadium can host various events, corporate meetings and conferences. For this purpose there is a space of 11000 square meters divided into 6 zones. In the guest zone there is a kitchen where cooks prepare delicious and fresh dishes for every taste. There are also 24 multifunctional spaces in the stadium, which make any meeting, presentation or conference unforgettable. Guests also have access to comfortable VIP-zones on the stands. There is also a museum within the stadium where visitors can learn the history of Club Atlético and the Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano.

The stadium also hosts concerts by Spanish and internationally renowned artists. These include celebrities such as Alejandro Sanz, Manuel Carrasco, Ed Sheeran, Muse, Bruno Mars, Iron Maiden and others.
