Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, or in Spanish Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, is a famous soccer stadium in the city of Seville, which is also the home arena for the local soccer club. The stadium was named after the former president of Sevilla, who held the position for a long time in the mid-20th century. The capacity of the stadium is about 45 thousand spectators.
Construction of the stadium began in 1956, designed by architect Manuel Munoz Monasterio, and after 2 years the arena was opened to the public. The first official match was the match between Sevilla and Real Jaen. The stadium was also the host of the 1982 World Cup matches, including Brazil vs. the USSR and Germany vs. France.
