Baku, Republican Stadium named after Tofik Bahramov
Description
Located in the heart of Baku, the Tofik Bahramov Republican Stadium is a significant sports facility with a rich past. It was opened on September 16, 1951, and since then it has been named after the famous Azerbaijani referee Tofik Bahramov. Today, the stadium serves as the home arena for the Qarabag Aghdam football club, as well as the Azerbaijan national team.
Founded in 1939, the stadium faced a suspension of construction due to the Great Patriotic War. It was not until 1951 that the work was completed and its grand opening took place. Over the decades of its existence, the stadium changed its name several times until it was named after Tofik Bahramov in 1993.
In 2012, the facility underwent a large-scale reconstruction under the supervision of the Korean company Samhwa Telecom. The renovation increased the number of seats to 31,200, making it one of the largest sports facilities in the region.
In addition to football matches, the stadium hosts international competitions. For example, in September-October 2012, it hosted matches of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, including the opening and final ceremonies.
To attend events at the stadium, you can purchase tickets through our website, where you can also find the current schedule and poster of upcoming events.
